Hannah at 17 Months, Learns to Take Chances Like Daddy

Many of you remember the story of my daughter Hannah Hennessy. She was born 9/1/09, more than THREE MONTHS premature, she weighed in at 1lb 9ozs. Preemie? Foughgettaboutit, that’s all history. Hannah is a normal (actually she’s no where near normal, like me ☺) gorgeous, a run-all-over-the-place, eat-everything placed in front of her kid. I’m more in love now than I was on all those long-late nights, when reaching into the incubator and her holding my finger was the routine. It’s history, but I still think about it every day

Raising Hannah is Like Producing a Video
My strategy in raising Hannah has been akin to producing videos for my corporate clients. For every client I instinctively need to create the most clever, creative, unique-different, comical and entertaining video possible. That’s also best describes me as a person, and that’s what I want to expose Hannah to. Raising a kid is like writing/filming/directing and editing a video….. It’s a form of art. The way I express myself is through my film and video projects. I think of this whenever I’m with her.
When I’m with her I don’t rush or stress. (which wasn’t true when I was a younger, less experienced dad) I’m patient and I try to let each experience slowly sink in before moving on to the next adventure. I show her the moon, stars, lights on our night time walks, the birds-flowers-trees-bugs, etc., on our day time walks. She’s a regular with me at the coffee joints, and I’m even more social when with Hannah, than without. (which ranks infinity on a scale of 1-10)

I Ain’t Gonna Hold her Back
We recently were in a store aisle with dozens of shelves, they were just sitting there waiting for action. When Hannah saw them I knew EXACTLY what she was thinking. “I want to go around and pull as much off these shelves as I can before they stop me.” So I took the chance that no one would bother us, and I let her at it without any worries about what ANYBODY would say, think, or do. The photo below tells the story well, my banana girl had the time of her life! She’d pull stuff off a shelf, examine it for a moment, than go on to the next shelf. It was beautiful, creative, artful, fun and when I felt she had created her masterpiece video, I picked her up and cleaned up her mess☺

My Point
Hannah’s mom and I notice a beautiful, bright, confident and happy 17 month-old girl with ZERO signs of the turbulence experienced in the first three months of her life, all in the hospital. Folks consistently comment about how incredibly happy, social and gorgeous Hannah is. Her smile wreaks of gooder than good goodness! And most important is her health. 100%!
The Head NICU Dr. told me the day she was born that “mommy and daddy’s touch and voice were more important in her recovery than even current technology.” He was right on, and I’ll never forget it.

Boring KGO Radio 810 Event “Electri-Fried” by Chris Hennessy
Taking BIG Chances with my Video Work Pays Off:
Below is a short video-trailer from the promo I recently produced for KGO Radio, San Fran, CA. They noticed in my previous work, that I took chances with creativity and ad-lib comedy. They apparently liked what they saw, and hired me to film at their recent “Girls-Night-Out event. From that footage I produced a short video they will use to promote the event in 2011. Here’s how I describe it on my YouTube Channel;
Out-Of-Control TV Host Chris Hennessy riotous ad-lib comedy obliterated the sanity of this event. He barged in to several seminars, hosted by KGO personalities, marched up to the stage, and disrupted
the proceedings with his ad-lib comedy schtick. The resulting bits are classic hilarious Hennflix humor.
